Brief Intervention on Smoking Cessation –

Smoking Cessation Counselling in 3 to 5 Minutes

Brief Intervention (BI) is an evidence-based smoking cessation intervention to facilitate clinician-patient interaction on smoking and quitting, and increase tobacco abstinence by using 5A’s and 5R’s models.

BI can help healthcare professional to effectively engage smokers in constantly receiving health advice and practical resources in quitting. WHO has recommended all clinicians to deliver BI for all smokers in all healthcare settings. After delivering BI, healthcare professionals may consider to provide or prescribe pharmacotherapy (e.g. nicotine replacement therapy) to suitable smokers.

All course content are based on scientific evidence. Each module contains a teaching video and a set of handout.
